Dr. Brindesh Dhruva serves as EVP, Chief Marketing & Technology Officer for Bray International in Houston, leading valve and actuator technology development worldwide. He holds a PhD in Engineering and Applied Science from Yale University.

Brindesh holds multiple patents and has been published in several technical journals. Prior to joining Bray in early 2013, Brindesh held several strategic management positions over a 14-year period with Schlumberger with responsibility for product development within various business units and worldwide locations.

Brittany Kelley is currently a Design Engineer III for the A.W. Chesterton Company. She joined Chesterton in 2019 as a design engineer handling new product development, engineered solutions (custom designs) and R&D, with a focus on Low Emissions sealing solutions. Brittany’s experience spans a variety of industries including mineral processing, aerospace, and RF absorbing materials. This has allowed her to gain knowledge of manufacturing, process engineering, R&D, and new product design. She holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Materials Engineering from McGill University in Montreal. 

Bronson Pate has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental field. Bronson now serves as TRICORD Consulting's Client Relationship Manager. Bronson is familiar with VV, VVa, GGG, GGGa, KKK, QQQ, MON, HON, API 622, API 624, TA-LUFT, ISOM 1500 and worked with multiple facilities to develop LDAR programs including those subject to LDAR consent decree requirements. He has experience in fugitive emission source Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) monitoring, tagging, and database management, including Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) review. He has participated and lead in several dozen CD LDAR audits. Bronson has additional experience in the environmental field focused on air quality compliance in refining, petrochemical, and natural gas processing industries.

Bronson is familiar with air permitting including MACT, BACT, Netting and Title V. Bronson is one of HSE-U trainers for LDAR Essentials, Advanced LDAR and LDAR for Experts. Before joining Sage, he served as lead LDAR site supervisor and technician for various refineries and gasification facilities in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. He was responsible for component tagging, P&ID review, Method 21 fugitive monitoring and database management. He is also experienced in performing on-line leak sealing, specifically drill and taps, wire wraps, peen and pumps and clamp measuring for placement and sealing.

Carlo De Bernardi holds a Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Pavia in Italy.

He has 21 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry where he started as a process engineer progressing in various engineering and project management roles in several international locations.

Carlo moved to Houston, TX, in 2005 and joined ConocoPhillips in 2012 as Corporate Valve SME supporting both Company’s Projects and Operations globally. He’s an active contributor of various Industry Standardization Bodies, including API, IOGP, ASTM and ASME leading several initiatives, including the API 20S Task Group and several Industry JIPs.

Full P&L responsibility for the organization in India with solid experience in R&D, operations, process optimization, costing and restructuring in multicultural environments. Active participant in international working teams with several papers published and studies championed for standard setting organizations and conferences. Chance Russo has been hooked on working with valves since day one. “In the mid 1990s I worked at a Cameron facility where I learned to repair, assemble, and test many brands and types of valves. I have been working with valves ever since,” Russo recalled.

Today, Russo is the Director of Sales and Projects at Sesto Valves, where his responsibilities include sales calls, and managing distribution/reps, quotes, and products.

Catering to the Spanish Community

The Valve World Americas conference will have certain presentations given throughout the sessions, available in Spanish. “My workshop does not have one, single topic. I am including a diversity of topics that will be presented in Spanish,” Russo explained. “It is an exciting opportunity to finally make the Valve World Americas Conference & Expo more inclusive, as the sessions will be conducted in Spanish for the first time ever. I hope to have this grow into a much larger session over time.”

With the ability to choose specific presentations given throughout the conference, Russo has decided to include presentations from as many session topics as possible. “Our industry is impacted by so many topics, which shows how robust and important these types of expos with workshops and training are so vital to the industry. All of the manufacturers are constantly trying to learn and develop new ways to improve their products, and it is equally important that end users learn about these developments and technologies,” he commented. “As with everything else in our present state, technology is constantly evolving at breakneck speed, and this is leading to so many changes and improvements in the valve industry. This is resulting in more available information on performance and reliability, which will be shared amongst end users over time,” Russo added. “Manufacturers will need to be abreast of these changes to stay current, and it should make our industry stronger, giving more reliable products to the world.”

The Importance of Conferences

As the valve industry continues to grow and strengthen, Russo expressed that it is important to promote the industry, not only to colleagues and customers, but to the general public. “No one goes to school or graduates with a valve education, yet it is absolutely a field and study program that never ends. I believe that people need to know about what a great career our industry really offers,” said Russo. “For those of us already in the industry, conferences such as Valve World Americas is a great place to network and learn from each other, while helping to make our industry grow and improve. I personally look forward to learning about new products, technologies, and solutions.”

With so much being showcased, Russo explained that the conference is a great way to open the door between manufacturers, EPCs, and end users. “As the workshops continue to grow, more and more people want to be involved. We live in a time where information is becoming increasingly prevalent, and we need to share with the entire industry,” he said. “For first-timers, it will be important for them to takes notes, and meet with as many people as possible to learn about their products and services. Take the time to ask exhibitors questions about how they help end users, or what makes them different. Finally, those who are new to the industry, should feel excited about taking their first steps, as the conference can lead them to a whole new world,” Russo concluded.

Charles Metrailer possesses 30 plus years of experience with valves and automation. He started his career at Grant supply in 1988.   He held various roles with Crane, KTM Ball Vales which was acquired by Tyco for whom he worked for 19 years.  Through Charles’ worldwide travel, he has learned numerous specifications and standards associated with the global  valve business allowing him to gain  great insight into production processes and the special valves related to the operations of those production units. Charles is currently MRC Global’s  Executive Director of Downstream  Valves and Automation. In this role, he  utilizes  specifications and global standards correctly to help engineers apply the correct valve for the required process conditions.

Chris Day is the President of Teadit North America in Pasadena, TX. He is a degreed mechanical engineer who has been with the company for over 20 years, and in the fluid sealing industry for over 30 years. In his time at the helm, Chris has led Teadit to being one of the leaders in the North American market for fluid sealing devices and technical expertise. He is a sought after resource in the industrial sealing community and looks to continue the improvement of gasketing technology.

Ms Dwyer is a piping material engineer with Fluor and began her career with Fluor in Johannesburg, South Africa in September 1988.  She began as a piping designer and soon took an interest in piping material.  In that office there was a variety of projects including hydrocarbon, mining and even brewery piping.  After a number of years as a specialist in the Johannesburg office, she was offered a position in the Fluor office in Houston. 

In Houston Claire was the lead piping material engineer on numerous hydrocarbon projects and, in late 2008, became the operations supervisor for piping material engineering. In this position, she gets a good overview of all the project piping requirements.  Previous experience included a few years in the material management group that involved expediting and procurement activities.

As VP of Valve Services North America for Neles, Cliff Smith is responsible for all aspects of the Flow Control Service business in the US & Canada. His leadership responsibilities include sales management, operations and facilities management, quality, safety, P&L, budgeting, and strategy development / implementation.

Courtney engages Business Units and Major Projects on valve and pipe procurement and contracting strategies. Bringing teams together (SME's, Suppliers, BU and Project) to strategically plan objectives for execution. Develop category plans, category strategies for the BU's and Projects; work with EPC's to gain alignment on standardization methods for valves and pipe selection.

Dan DeVine began his more than 30-year career by obtaining a degree in Chemical Engineering, and sourcing a job at Union Carbide in Clinton, Iowa, as a Production Engineer. Today, he continues on the same career path as an Independent Contractor through Midland Engineering for a company called Corteva, which is a spin-off of Dow Chemical (Ag Division) and DuPont (Ag Business). In this position, DeVine is responsible for providing valve technology strategy and piping consultant services, as well as assisting with pressure vessel evaluations, repairs, and new purchases for capital projects. “Every day is different because several unexpected situations will come up. I will only complete part of what I had wanted to accomplish, but the urgent calls are what make the day fun and exciting,” DeVine explained. “I enjoy the challenge of having to solve problems, and realizing that I am still learning something new each day.”

Looking into the Chemical Industry

As the Session Chair for the Chemical Industry Workshop, DeVine plans to focus on very common, specific issues that are experienced by those who work in the chemical industry. “I have chosen a panel that covers a wide spectrum of experience; this includes a valve manufacturer, a valve automation expert, and an end user of manual valves,” DeVine stated. “They will discuss challenges they have faced, and how an innovative solution has solved a problem for a highly hazardous chemical service.” DeVine has also planned to include a long Q&A period in order to interact with the energetic and enthusiastic audience.

As the chemical industry involves a variety of unique processes, which includes corrosive and reactive chemicals at a wide variable service temperature range, as well as demanding applications, it is crucial to make others aware of the different issues that can be experienced. “If you cannot get the valve technology required for a chemical process, it limits production, drives up costs, and can be a reliability issue,” DeVine explained. “However, if a manufacturer or service provider knows what is needed, it encourages them to reach out to the end users.” The manufacturers must be willing to work with the end users, and be open to their ideas in order to manufacture a successful application. “This awareness about what workers in the chemical industry need, and what has or is working, will benefit the overall industry,” DeVine commented. “Developing creative solutions for a tough problem certainly makes working in this field enjoyable and satisfying.”

As manufacturers and end users begin to work more closely together, DeVine believes there will be a continuous improvement in the industry, with higher-quality valves that will be manufactured for the specific demands of the chemical industry. “The best companies are listening to the end users, and I only hope that in the future, we see more collaborative business partnerships, and more functionality.”

Networking and New Technology

With DeVine’s hopes of the manufacturers and end users working more closely together in the valve industry, he explained that the Valve World Americas Conference & Expo will give manufacturers and end users that chance to interact and network. “This is a great way to meet up with people in all sectors of the industry. There is a great comradery in this field and the event is always great to visit with the people you have worked with in the past, and to meet those who may be new to the industry,” DeVine stated. “The conference and expo is also a great way to stay up-to-date with the latest technology. First-time attendees who may have less experience in the technical aspects will have the chance to see what is available, and discover these resources. The technologies available are extremely impressive, but until you see them for yourself, you may not realize they exist.”

DeVine stressed that for first-timers especially, taking advantage of the opportunities available at the Valve World Americas Conference & Expo is a must. “See everything you can. I remember my first time at Valve World, the event had officially finished, the convention center personnel were rolling up the carpet, and I was still talking to valve manufacturers,” DeVine recalled. “That is when I knew I was really going to enjoy working in this field.”

DAVID M. ANDERSON is a Director of Score Diagnostics Limited and is responsible for the global deployment and development of the company’s valve condition and performance monitoring products and services, which are focused on delivering operating cost reduction, risk minimization and efficiency maximization for its customers.

David has worked in many roles in the valve industry in his 36 year career to date. He has been working in the Score Group for 25 years and has been involved in valve diagnostics and condition monitoring for over 20 years. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and coaching / mentoring others. 

Davi Correia is a Senior Mechanical Engineer who has worked at a major Brazil-based oil company for the last 15 years. Correia is part of multi-disciplinary team that provides technical support for topside piping and equipment of production platforms. During this period, he began to work with materials and corrosion, and later moved to piping and accessories technology, where he has become one of the lead technical advisors on valve issues. Correia was part of the task force that revised the IOGP S-562 standard, and wrote the S-611 standard. Correia has a master’s and a doctor’s degree in welding by the Universidade Federal de Uberlandia.

David received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2010. He then spent 8 years in the rotating equipment industry with a focus on the downstream oil & gas market. David joined Bodycote in 2018 as a Market Development Engineer to further develop the Kolsterising® market in North America.

David Garner joined MRC Global in 2017 and currently serves as their Business Development Manager Valves & Automation for Midstream Accounts. He has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior roles include 11 years with Bettis as an Application Engineer at their former Waller, Texas manufacturing facility and 9 years with Cameron Valves and Measurement as an Account Manager. His extensive industry experience is ideally suited to his current responsibilities of providing internal and external technical support for MRC Global. David possesses a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State.

David is an environmental regulatory expert and emissions specialist with over 40 years of experience in instrumentation system design and monitoring of air toxics, water, fugitive emissions, stack testing, and ambient air.  David began his environmental career providing repair and field service support of microprocessor based data acquisition. He later moved to instrumentation, quality control, reporting and auditing support associated with ambient and process level emission measurements. This work included the application of new FTIR technology and participation in numerous EPA Consent-Decree LDAR audits.  Since 2005, David has focused primarily on LDAR projects in addition to ambient air and source level monitoring. David’s recent activities include LDAR audits, performing IR camera surveys at both off-shore and on-shore facilities, providing Level 1 Thermography Certification training, conducting direct emission testing (bagging), and the installation of a meteorological system at a landfill site.

Ed Edgar is a Professional Engineer, and an engineering graduate of The University of Houston.  He has been a design engineer and engineering manager in the Oil and Gas industry for 29 years.  In his current role as Technical Sales Manager, he is responsible for technical support for all Cameron Valve products globally.  Ed has participated in API and ISO standards development for 16 years and is Chairman of task groups for API 6DX and API 6DSSX, and is a task group member for API 6D, 6DSS and 6FA.  

Before assuming his current role as an independent consultant, Euthymios Euthymiou accepted a retirement leave from Petrobras, where he worked for more than 30 years as Senior Consultant in Subsea Valves and Technical Category Head in Valves. “I spent more than 40 years in my career in the Mechanical Engineering field, mostly on typical mechanical areas, and research and development (R&D) for the upstream segment, but also incorporating automation, real-time monitoring, and robotics,” Euthymiou explained.  “While at Petrobras, after evaluating valve designs and their manufacturing worldwide for more than 25 years, I accepted the challenge to be the company’s first Technical Category Head in Valves. This task brought me a much wider view on how valves have been managed at engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (ECI) levels, and in different business segments. I then contributed to review, revise, and improve corporate procedures, practices, and specifications, including a complete overhauling of the valve selection in Petrobras’ ‘Piping Standard and Material for Oil Production and Process Facilities’. Now, my responsibilities correspond with the particular contract I would be working on.”

Bringing Pipeline Valves into the Spotlight

With plenty of experience with pipeline valves, Euthymiou has seen a lack of attention being brought to the specifications required for the specific application. “Someone might think that a pipeline valve is another conventional valve that does not need special requirements, but this is not the case, as most valves are customized to better accomplish their tasks,” Euthymiou stated. “My Pipeline Valve workshop will present different perspectives. Oil and gas end users, as well as EPC speakers will share their points of view, together with major manufacturers and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).” He plans for his panel to address common issues and inadequacies in order to motivate conversation in a guided way, which will also be open to the audience. “It is rare to see this type of dynamic engagement at a conference. Our aim is to share knowledge, transfer some of my own passion, and learn from new and different perspectives, while allowing the audience to participate and present their questions and concerns. We are always learning and as we share experiences, we increase the awareness, and everybody wins,” he said. “This conference will be a great channel to share and broadcast cases, knowledge, and experience, among peer professionals, and decision-making people.”

Foster Voelker has spent his entire professional career in the valve industry, which began with him studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston. Currently, Voelker is the Director of Engineering at Williams Valve Corp., where his responsibilities encompass all tasks related to engineering and quality, this includes valve design, the quality control (QC) inspection processes, and after sales service. When he is not traveling, Voelker focuses on a large scope of activities, which ranges from answering technical inquiries, reviewing project specifications, or trying to catch up on tasks he missed while travelling.

Fred has been with Neles Inc. for more than 26 years and is currently the North American Business Manager.  Fred has more than 30 years of experience with Industrial Valves and has held positions in Engineering, Marketing and Sales.  He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University and currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Fred Schweighardt is an National Project Manager for Airgas in Houston, TX. In this capacity, he is applying his extensive background in welding to the fields of industrial gas in fabricating and manufacturing. Prior to joining Airgas, he was employed as an International Expert in welding and cutting with Air Liquide, pipe welder, heating plant engineer, and weld shop manager. Fred is the Chairman of AWS A5S and is a voting member of ISO US TAG 44 SC3 committee. Fred graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Welding Engineering Ttechnology, and is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector.

George P. Davet, BSME, MBA, is the Chief Engineer, Executive Vice President and Owner of Solon Manufacturing Company. George has written and published numerous articles on the application of Belleville springs for the valve industry, as well as many other industries globally.

With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Gilbert Alonzo spent 30 years of his career working in the petrochemical industry, six and a half of which in the oil and gas exploration business. Currently, Alonzo is a consultant, and is preparing to begin contact work for BP in the Gulf of Mexico.

Greg Johnson has been in the valve industry for 40 years and is the president of United Valve, a 58-year-old valve service company located in Houston, Texas. He has been active in standards development activities for over 25 years in API, ISO and MSS. He is past-president of MSS as well as chairman of the VMA Education & Training committee. He also serves as chairman of the API sub-committee on piping and valves, manufacturers and contractors group

Greg Peterson has had 25 years executive sales management experience in valve and automation sales, promoting growth at the corporate level to the 25 Top national accounts and building and leading high-performing teams.

Harold Armstrong a native Texan born in El Paso, Texas and following graduation from the University of Texas at El Paso, worked in the financial accounting industry.  He moved to Houston, Texas in January 1976 to pursue a career in sales.  During this time he began working in the PVF industry selling piping products and in 1979 formed his own company representing manufacturers of valves and fittings.  Forty Two years later, Armstrong/Weatherly Associates is known as an industry leader representing valve and flow related companies having an impact worldwide.  Also, he has worked with the PVF Roundtable for over Twenty years now, and his commitment to the PVF Roundtable Charitable foundation and helping others in our industry is relentless.

Ian has been active in the valve industry for 30 plus years, primarily associated with engineering and the design of valves.  Occasionally he has stepped away from engineering and spent time in operations and product management only to return to his roots in engineering. Throughout his career, Ian has developed an extensive knowledge of ball, gate, check, plug and butterfly valves along with their accompanying industry standards and customer specifications.  He has been actively involved in the development of industry standards for over 25 years and is currently participating in API, MSS and AWWA standards committees.

Jeff is from Santa Fe, Texas and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Fitness and Human Performance from University of Houston at Clear Lake. He will start pursuing his Master’s degree in Higher Education and Administration this year. Jeff currently serves as the .  Prior to that, he was the Assistant Volleyball Coach at San Jacinto College and served as the Academic Coordinator for the Athletic Programs for the last five years. 

Jeremy Harrison currently serves as MRC Global’s Business Development Manager – Upstream/Midstream.  In this role, he is responsible for providing valve and automation solutions to end users and EPCs with a primary focus on capital projects.  He joined the company in 2006 and has held various roles in PVF supply chain and sales within the organization.  Prior to joining MRC Global, Jeremy worked as a scientist for Potesta & Associates, an environmental and engineering consulting firm.  Jeremy holds a BS in Biology from West Virginia University.

Mr. Delgado is has been involve in the performance of nondestructive examination (NDE) activities conducted on nuclear power plant components for the past 40 years. Having work nineteen years at the Southwest Research Institute, twenty years at IHI Southwest Technologies, Inc. and currently with Industrial Inspection and Analysis. During this time Mr. Delgado has participated in over 100 preservice and in-service examination efforts at various United States and international nuclear power plants. Jose Carlos Veiga is the Global Technical Director for the Teadit Group, with his main R & D facility located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Kyle Daniels, President & CEO of Clarke Valve, is an aerospace engineer and the inventor, chief engineer and head of product design of the Shutter Valve. He holds several patents on the Shutter Valve and is an expert in the field of industrial valves. Mr. Daniels spent his career in the aerospace industry working at General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, and Embraer Aircraft. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University’s prestigious Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering program, and also received a master’s degree (magna cum laude) from Brown University’s Program in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Daniels is from Miami, FL and has resided in Ohio, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Paris, France.

Kyle Rayhill’s experience spans 15 years in the flow control and valve industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. Kyle has been with Metso for 13 years and is currently the Director of the Global Oil & Gas Business Line.

Laura has over 8 years of experience assisting on a variety of projects including NSR air permitting, BWON, and NSPS QQQ.  Laura has provided day-to-day compliance assistance with NSPS and NESHAP regulations, as well as recordkeeping requirements for air quality assurance; developed permit calculations and submittals for NSR renewals and amendments; studied full environmental impact assessments for capital project developments; participated in BWON audits from both an administrative and field perspective and suggested corrections for findings; interviewed operations for data gathering for documentation related to both BWON and NSR permitting development.  She has worked in refineries, chemical plants, coke-by-product, and treatment, storage and disposal facilities.  While developing her technical bench, Laura has led several projects to completion as project manager and maintains relationships with a large client base.

Luke currently holds the position of Quality Assurance Manager for Sunbelt Supply. Luke had previously worked at Neway Valve for 10 years and was responsible of resolving all Neway’s North American valve technical inquiries and product issues from 2010 to 2018, handling over 1,000 cases of customer complaints. He most recently worked as the assistant plant director in China implementing automation production and improving production quality and process. As many other here presenting, an active member of API SCOPV taskforces, including API 600 gate valve standard and API 624 emission testing standard.

Matt Hartfiel serves as MRC Global’s Vice President of Downstream, Industrial & Energy Transition for Valves, Automation, Measurement and Instrumentation. His deep understanding of customer needs and pain points allows him to offer the best solution to customers based on the application. Matt started his career in engineering, switching to sales when he joined Crane as a Sales Engineer and advanced to Global Key Accounts Manager. Prior to joining MRC Global in 2020, Matt served as Vice President of International and Strategic Accounts for Sunbelt Supply L.P., leading their APAC operations and National Accounts team and program. Max R. Casada directed the Quality efforts for Projects, Equipment, and Materials used in the capital projects and operations of Phillips 66 until his retirement the end of May 2021. A Professional Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 40 years of experience at Phillips 66, Max has held a number of positions in Engineering, Operations, Operations Management, Procurement, and Projects including:   Staff Engineer, Craft Superintendent, Operations Manager (200 MW Cogen.), Plant Manager, Business Improvement Team Lead (Chemicals, Catalyst, & Gasses), Global Downstream Procurement Manager, and Global Supplier Quality Lead.  Mr. Casada holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Memphis State University.  The 1983 recipient of the ASME Arthur L. Williston award, Max was also a key member of the 2010 Construction Industry Institute (CII) Research Team (RT) 264 which focused on “Product Integrity Concerns from Low Cost Sourcing Countries” and the 2014 CII RT 307 “Mitigation of Counterfeiting in the Capital Projects Industry”.  He also is a board member of the PVF Roundtable.

Michael Kitchens graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Shortly thereafter he joined Bray where he served as a valve and controls design engineer.  He has held several positions at Bray, but for the last 4 years has served as the Research and Development Lab Manager responsible for validation and testing of Bray’s valve and control products.  In this role, he helped establish Bray’s extensive lab capabilities including cryogenic, severe service, life endurance, and fugitive emissions testing.  Recently Michael served on the API 641 task force, where he helped create the new “Type Testing of Quarter-turn Valves for Fugitive Emissions” standard. 

Ned Davis is the Founder of Maui Innovation Group and CTO of Zero Leak Valves Inc.  He has been working on Magnetically Actuated Valves for over 8 years, and holds 4 patents on this technology with 5 more pending.  He has a PhD, Masters, and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Electrical Engineering all from Johns Hopkins University.  Prior to founding his own company in 2013, he worked for Westinghouse, Northrop Grumman, and Trex Enterprises, and has over 20 years’ experience in engineering and management.

He has experience in valve design and specializes in the design and development of Plug valves. He joined Flowserve in 2014 from the Centrifugal pump world and has been involved in research and development projects for Flowserve plug valve brand in the UK.

Ochuko has worked on development projects like the 15000 psi API 6A plug valve and Shell Design Validation to MESC SPE 77/300 along with several cost reduction Valve design projects using FEA tools and in collaboration with colleagues, Suppliers and Customers. 

In 2019, he made the transition to Flowserve US and have continued to develop and extend the boundaries of the US plug valve offering with several in-house design projects.  

He is also a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering council and Member of the IMECHE.

Richard Dayries is the Vice President, Quality and Specialty Products of FloWorks since 2020.  Mr. Dayries is responsible for leading the team of Quality Assurance Managers and is the leader of several FloWorks divisions with locations in both the US and in Europe.  Prior to his current role Mr. Dayries served for 24 years as Global Agreement Manager with overall responsibility for the business with one of FloWorks largest customers.  Mr. Dayries has over 40 years of industry experience joining FloWorks in 1995 establishing the company’s first Valve Automation Center.

Rick has spent more than 50 years in Oil & Gas and Nuclear industry.  He has vast  knowledge and experience as SME in the fields of steel melting, castings, forgings, heat treatment, materials, nondestructive examination, quality control, quality assurance, welding , coatings, project management and technical standards development with  API, ASME and ISO. Rick has spent 42 years in API Upstream Standards development and is currently task group chairman for API 6D - 6DSS -6FA and API SC6 TG1 Pipeline standards and Task Group Chairman of API 20A  Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Stainless Steel, and Nickel Base Alloy Castings for Use in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry. He is also a voting member on API Subcommittee 6 on Valves and Wellheads as well as Subcommittee 20 on Supply Chain Management. Rick also spent 22 years in ISO Pipeline transportation systems standards development with ISO TC67- SC2 as member of US Delegation and Convener of WG2 -Pipeline valves, W8 -Pipeline welding, WG9 Subsea Pipeline valves.

Rick holds a Diploma in Welding Metallurgy from Metals Engineering Institute.  

Riyaz Ali has B.E. (Hons) in Chemical Engineering and MBA from India with special work on use of control valves for severe service applications. 

He has been in process control instrumentation field since past 44 years. Presently, employed with Emerson Automation Solution – Flow Controls (since 1993), involved in implementing microprocessor-based technology for field devices for process control and Safety instrumented system.

He has presented various papers on topic pertaining to "Use of Digital Valve Controller for Safety applications" at ISA, AIChe, Texas A & M etc. His papers on the subject have also been published from time to time in various Control Instrumentation magazine including, InTech, Petroleum Technology, Automation and Control, Control Solutions etc.

He also holds various USA patents pertaining to Digital Valve Controller for Process Control and Safety applications.

He also participated as member of Ff-SIS committee, which brings Fieldbus Foundation protocol for use in Safety Instrumented System.

Rob’s hands on approach to fluid sealing challenges highlights his passion for helping customers with unique challenges.

Some career design highlights include fugitive emission gasket design, less than 10 ppm low load API 622 FE packing configurations, custom graphitic/metallic valve seat seals and numerous custom pressure seals in both aftermarket and OEM applications. He recently completed an extensive research project on valve stem packing, looking at the technical and performance characteristics of common high temperature packing configurations.  

When not pursuing engineering innovations, Rob enjoys hiking and working on home renovations. He currently resides in his hometown of Chardon, OH.

Prior to this, he served as President and CEO of Key Energy Services from 2018 to 2019 and of Atwood Oceanics from 2009 to 2017. Rob held positions of increasing leadership in strategy, operations and marketing at Transocean from 2003 to 2009. Rob’s prior experience includes positions at Nabors Industries, Enron Corp., McKinsey & Co. and ExxonMobil. Rob received a BS in chemical engineering from Princeton University in 1985 (magna cum laude) and an MBA from Northwestern University in 1990. Rodney has over 25 years of experience in the manufacturing, design, R&D, engineering, sales and marketing of stationary sealing solutions to include packing and gaskets. Rodney has extensive experience in the recommendation and design of engineered sealing solutions for use in all types of valve and flange applications with a focus on Low E sealing Technology for valves and large diameter critical flange sealing.

Ron Frisard has worked for the A.W. Chesterton Company for the last 30 years in all facets of Mechanical Packing and Gasketing.  He is a technical expert in Mechanical Packing and Industrial Gasketing and has traveled over 900,000 miles to customers around the globe.  He is currently the Global Training Manager where he manages the design, development, analysis, and execution of training for the company.  He has worked with the Fluid Sealing Association for the last 15 years including past chairman of the Packing Division and currently the chairman of the Gasketing division.  Ron has also been considered an "industry influencer" and an Industry person of the week by Empowering Pumps and Equipment.

Senior Project & Commercialization Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the industrial engineering industry, specifically in the IIoT space. Rune Sele has over 30 years of experience working in the oil and gas industry, mainly in operational roles in the Eastern hemisphere. He is currently the Vice President of AOGV in IK Group. Rune is going to talk about how you can turn any flange pair into a temporary valve while you perform required maintenance and repairs.

He has 20 years of experience in valve design and specializes in the design and development of Plug valves. He is also involved in new developments and projects for design and development of valves for special services like metal and ash slurries, volatile hydrocarbon services with fugitive emission requirements.

Jinnah has worked on design optimization projects in economizing with the required metal with respect to internal pressure requirements with analytical guidance as per BPV codes and validated the same through FEA – Ansys.

He has extensive experience in design of valve bodies for exotic materials like Austenitic, Duplex stainless steel and Inconel (Nickel) alloys. Worked with foundries in establishing best practices for the design for manufacturability in the casting process for superior metals Duplex and Inconel.

Scott Lewis’ career began 40 years ago at WKM selling Quarter turn, Gate Valves and Actuators in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals Industries. Subsequently adding experience in Instrumentation, Manufacturing and Distribution management, and Power Generation and Water & Wastewater industry experience. He is the Regional Manager-Americas for IK Group. 

Scott Moreland has over 40 years in the valve industry serving mostly in a manufacturing capacity with experience with global companies: Watts Industries/KF, Zy-Tech Global (PBV ball valves), Cornerstone Valve, Mogas Industries & PetrolValve, LLC. While working primarily in sales management and marketing roles, he has experience in product management, distribution cooperation and end user AVL approvals. During his career, Scott has been working in capacities which allowed for global travel where he has key contacts and experience in all valve markets introducing or partnering with key valve providers. His experience in valve designs include ball valves, check valves, severe service & critical applications types valves and innovative designs, i.e., four-offset designs with QVI. Scott has also worked closely with API and Valve World throughout the years. Scott currently holds the position of VP for Quadax.

Shahrum Iqbal has been with Bray International for 9 years and is currently Actuation and Controls General Manager for Bray.  Shahrum holds a B.S. from Texas A&M University in Engineering.  He has published several publications on control valves and automation.

Studied Law in Italy but did not enjoy it so ended up joining the family business at OMB and still enjoying working there.

Simone followed the sales & marketing activities of the group with limited success, so was exiled to US following the acquisition of Vogt Valves in 2017.

Active in the API downstream committees for a long time, he finally brought his strong Italian accent and poor engineering knowledge to the API 6D task group where he often speaks up on manufacturing issues and inspection problems, trying hard to protect the valves manufacturers views. Having had little success but a lot of fun in the arguments, he will for sure make a colorful addition to the panel discussion (bring your Italian translator).

Simone has 3 children which all plan to join the business and hopefully will not destroy it...

Thomas (Tom) Wimbrow is the Technical Solutions Team Leader for Manual Valves and Sealing Technology and a Piping Engineering Lead for Dow Chemical based at their Central Engineering office in Houston, Texas.  He maintains Dow technical specifications for valves and the Dow AMSL and assists with valve selection, troubleshooting, and failure analysis for operating facilities and projects worldwide.  Previous experience includes 12 years with ExxonMobil Development Company working on design and construction of piping and mechanical systems for Oil and Gas production facilities, and prior to that more than 20 years with EPC, O&G Production, and Consulting Engineering firms engineering piping and mechanical systems.  Tom has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Houston.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.

After 34 years of experience in the energy industry, Tim Goedeker, Senior Principal Environmental Consultant for Phillips 66, knows the value of experience and the importance of innovation. Starting his career as a Technical Service Engineer in the oil refining sector and moving into the environmental side with HSE-Refining, Tim has a vast knowledge and understanding of this ever evolving industry.

Todd Harrison graduated with a BS in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M and a MBA from University of Houston.  Todd has been in the valve industry for the past 20 years.  Within the valve industry he has held various sales and marketing roles in the gulf coast market.  Todd is an active member of the Houston ISA.  At Neles, Todd holds the current role of Regional Sales Manager.

Trace Scrivner is a Senior Mechanical Engineer with ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, located in Spring, TX.

Trace is a registered Professional Engineer (TX) and a graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Over the last 22 years, he has supported ExxonMobil’s downstream refining and chemicals operations in the U.S., Europe, and Canada.  Although his work activities have included design, analysis, and fitness for service, his current role is Piping & Valves technology owner.

Trace is currently the Vice Chair of ASME B31.3 Subgroup Design, as well as ExxonMobil’s voting member for the API Subcommittee on Piping and Valves.  Trace is currently leading the Task Force to update API 602.

Wallace G. Hancock Jr, MBA, Engineering Sales Manager/Regional Sales Manager at Quadax Valves has over 15 years’ experience in the valve industry.  Having experience with gate, globe, check, ball, and butterfly valves while servicing the chemical, refining, and space industries, he has developed a well rounded perspective in the flow control industry.  Having both an engineering and business degree, he brings both a technical and commercial aptitude to the valve industry.

Wojciech Zmudzinski is a Professional Engineer, Mechanical Engineer graduate of University of Toronto, Canada, with extensive experience in valve design and manufacture, new technology qualification and testing, service failure analysis and repair. Extent of experience in offshore and onshore oil and gas topside and subsea facilities, petrochemical, mining, pulp & paper, power and chemical industry sectors. He has worked internationally in both technical and commercial roles for valve manufacturers, repair and engineering service provider, and EPCI contractor.

In his current role at bp America Inc. as Engineering Advisor for Valves, Wojciech provides guidance and deep discipline expertise in valve and actuation engineering, covering detail design and analysis, manufacturing processes, valve qualifications, and testing, supports operations with failure investigations and root-cause analysis, risk assessments, and equipment criticality evaluation. During his career, he’s developed a sound understanding of forging & casting processes of materials used in valve industry, including application of ceramic & cermet coatings and weld-overlays.

Over the years, Wojciech developed a credibility within the valve industry, serving as a Steering Committee Member and Chair of 2018 Valve World conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, continuing to support Valve World Americas and Industrial Valve Summit (IVS) as advisory board member.

With an extensive network of technical and commercial contacts within valve & actuator manufacturers in Europe, North America, and Asia, Wojciech represents bp in several API valve and actuator sub-committees, as well as IOGP, ASME, and ISA.
